I was not sure that this would work with my chair, but it seems that these gas struts are more or less universal. They are just a press-fit into the base and the seat. I replaced the old strut with the new one (length was slightly different, but that was okay) and it works perfectly. This was much cheaper than replacing the chair. I am very happy with it thanks

A replaced an old 7″ lift with this one. It works perfectly and at such a great price. It’s a lot higher than my old one, especially as the old star base had also expanding causing the lift to sink even lower, but at 6’4″ myself this is not a problem. However, if you are a more average height it’s worth bearing in mind. I might consider swapping it back out for a 7″ unit at some point but for now it’s great to be able to sit at my desk at a proper height again.

Thought my office chair was a write off. Gas lift didn’t work, bits of plastic all over the floor and chair wobbled uncontrollably. Took the old gas lift out (took about 5 minutes as only a taper fit). Ordered Bimi replacement. Another 5 minutes to fit new part. Chair now as good as new. Thought I would have to buy a new chair, but £14 and a couple of days later, job done. Delighted.

Arrived qickly and easy to fit. The instructions on the website were helpful. the bottom joint separated easily, but the top joint was extremely tight. I removed all the seat parts from the top plate amd gripped the shaft of the old cylinder tightly in a vice and used a lump hammer to separate the plate from the shaft.
